Apple put an end to the rumors with a 2021 keynote carried out with a bang and finally a lot of new things.
With Tim Cook as conductor, the Apple conference confirmed some rumors (iPad Pro) and reserved a few surprises, starting with the announcement of a new iPhone, finally rather a new iPhone color: mauve . Then, these are the famous AirTags (35 € individually and 119 € for the pack of 4) which we have been talking about for months, even years, which have finally been confirmed. These “trackers” work natively with the Locate application and allow you to find your bags, wallets or keys. The Apple TV is also updated with a 4K version (from € 199 with 64 GB) which allows the box to rise to the level of the competition. Powered by an A12 Bionic chip, the Apple TV 4K will be able to broadcast in 4K HDR (Dolby Vision) and at 60 fps. The box equipped with Wi-Fi 6, a Gigabit Ethernet connection and an HDMI 2.1 output is accompanied by a new Siri Remote.
One of the surprises of the Keynote remains the presentation of the new iMac M1 (from 1449 € with 8 GB of unified memory and 256 GB of storage). They almost look like 24 ”iPads mounted on a stand. The iMac M1 are very thin (11.5 mm…) and come in several colors (blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange and mauve). They incorporate a 24-inch Retina 4.5K display, better microphones, speakers for more enveloping sound and a camera that films, finally, in 1080p. They have 4 USB-C ports and a separate power supply (with Ethernet connection). You will find inside the M1 chip which already equips the MacBook Air , MacBook Proand Mac Mini on a motherboard that will be actively cooled, but whose noise level should not exceed 10 dB. The iMac M1 come with a new wireless keyboard equipped with a fingerprint reader for biometric recognition.
Finally, the iPad Pro have indeed been confirmed. They are available in 11 ”(from € 899) and 12.9” (from € 1219) versions and both incorporate the M1 chip. The main novelty remains the Liquid Retina XDR screen of the 12.9 ”model and its Mini-Led backlight (10,000 Mini-Led for 2,500 dimming zones) which develops a brightness of 1,000 nits and 1,600 nits peak, not to mention its color gamut P3.
