The Asus FX570Z is not a computer that makes a lot of people talk about it. However, it is one of the most consulted by readers of our site. It seems to attract your interest thanks to its enticing technical characteristics (AMD Ryzen 5 processor and GTX 1050 graphics chip) and its attractive price (less than 700 €). But watch out for the trap.
Plastic, It’s Fantastic ! On this chassis, Asus chose the all plastic of poor quality. What he gains in lightness, he loses in design, plastic giving it a cheap appearance . In addition, the granular plastic cracks under the fingers and does not seem of solid foolproof.
Visually, Asus puts a brushed surface on the hood. Nevertheless, the builder adds a touch of originality with a turquoise edging of the most beautiful effect that saves the picture a little. However, the Asus FX570Z has nothing to detach from the competition.
This model has a keyboard far from being a success, with a fairly short race and an uncomfortable feedback, even if the shot remains relatively accurate. This mediocre keyboard is however correct next to the touchpad , whose cursor on the screen is often lost during the user’s manipulations and squeaks with each press.
The connection is for its part very correct, since the PC offers a USB Type-C, a USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, Ethernet and a microSD card reader, all this in addition to the traditional mini jack plug.
Using a screwdriver, it is possible to open the PC. However, it only opens on the keyboard side and does not allow much amplitude to access the components; unless you remove the plugs connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. A perilous operation to be reserved for very sophisticated users. It is then possible to add a 2.5-inch SSD or RAM.
During our usual test protocol ( benchmark of Metro Last Light for one hour), the Asus FX570Z never exceeded 37 ° C at the surface. As for the noise, it remains relatively quiet (40 dB (A)), which is quite correct at stake. The breath is audible, but not annoying.
The 15.6-inch TN panel has a definition of 1,920 x 1,080px. The ratio screen / facade is low (only 73%), but it is far from the main problem of this PC.
During our visit to the lab, the slab of the FX570Z delivered very poor results. This is one of the worst screens in our columns. The contrast measured by our probe goes down to a dismal 290: 1. The temperature rises to 12,200 K, far from the video standard (6,500 K). The screen is therefore severely blue. The average Delta E was measured at 12.2, which is indicative of displayed colors far removed from reality. Looking closer, no color on the screen is faithful to the original color.
From left to right, gamma curve, color temperature and delta E.
The maximum brightness is not great either and is limited to 230 cd / m², which does not facilitate work outdoors. The remanence is for its part correct (measured at 8 ms) – TN screen requires.
So we have the impression to look at a catastrophic screen that is ten in late. Just watching a video a little dark is a real ordeal.
The Asus FZ570X is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 2500UI processor (4 cores, 8 threads, frequencies ranging from 2 to 3.6 GHz) supported by 8 GB of RAM and has a 512 GB SSD. which bring good power, without sparking.
During our usual test protocol (video editing, photo editing, file compression, 3D calculation), the Asus PC achieved the score of 71 on our scale of values, an honorable score. It is positioned side-by-side with other models in the same price segment, such as Huawei’s Matebook D. The FX570Z will be able to perform a wide variety of tasks under good conditions, but may find itself struggling with heavy video editing or advanced photo editing.
The FX570Z features a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (2GB) graphics card that brings a bit of graphics power to the PC. However, that does not make him a PC gaming for as much. During our usual test protocol (settings in Ultra mode, definition in 1920 x 1080 px, vertical synchronization disabled), here are the results obtained on the sequences of our test games:
Very average results in the state. Nevertheless, by cutting a little on the quality of the graphics – putting them on “average”, for example -, the player can easily go beyond 40 i / s on the most recent games.
MOBILITY / AUTONOMY
With a weight of 1.96 kg, the Asus FX570Z is not really designed to be transported everywhere, even if its plastic chassis gives it more lightness than aluminum. Its 15-inch format allows it to find a place in a large bag.
Autonomy is disappointing. During our usual test protocol (Netflix under Chrome, brightness set to 200 cd / m², earphones connected), the PC turned off after 4 hours 8 minutes. A disappointing score that places it below the market average in this segment.
On the speaker side, the FX570Z tried to save the furniture with preinstalled software (AudioWizard). Once the Music profile is activated, it offers balanced sound and intelligible voices. It should also be noted controlled distortion … and it is the least he could do, given the ridiculous power of the speakers. Indeed, they emit a sound so weak that it becomes inaudible in a somewhat noisy environment. In addition, these speakers are placed in the front corner, the worst possible placement on a laptop, the sound is very far from the screen and smothered by the surface on which the PC is placed.
The headphone jack displays for its results in the lab very correct. It may be lacking just a little bit of power.
The Asus FX570X embeds a very correct configuration at a great price. However, the sacrifices made on the screen, speakers, keyboard and autonomy are too important to hoist this laptop at least in the market average. We do not recommend it.
