The umpteenth edition of the popular RPG by Blizzard definitely breaks through our hearts.
After landing on virtually any platform imaginable, there was only one stop for the excellent Diablo III , the popular Blizzard RPG originally released in 2012 on PC – not without some heavy controversy from historical fans, but they allowed him to become a much higher game over the years. What, hopefully, is the last definitive edition of the game, the Diablo III: Eternal Collection, has finally landed on Nintendo Switch, realizing an old dream of many fans of the series: to play the title not only comfortably seated on the sofa in the living room, but also (and above all) in motion, wherever you want. What seems a triviality, an aspect of little importance, is actually the real gem of this Eternal Collection that, in addition to having all the possible and imaginable contents published over the years by Blizzard to enrich and improve the original game, allows for the first opportunity to choose to play Diablo III practically anywhere.
However, its switch on Switch involves some compromises with respect to the previous versions, in particular the PC. It is useless to go around, Diablo III: Eternal Collection must necessarily resize in terms of graphic fidelity compared to its predecessors, but this one and only defect that we find in this edition is somehow compensated by the many hours of fun in the portable version that the game is able to offer. True, Diablo III has always been a very entertaining title, but with its arrival on Switch it is as if we discover a new way to play with it, especially when you have the chance to have a friend take part at any time and anywhere thanks to Joy-Con .
But before tackling the local multiplayer question, let’s try to analyze the technical characteristics of this edition. As for the docked version, Diablo III: Eternal CollectionHe does his job very well, turning on the TV screen at a smooth resolution at 60 fps and 960p, while in the portable version, however, runs at 60 fps, but decreasing to 720p. The surrender is equally excellent and in neither case have we ever witnessed huge declines of framerate during our games. Even sharing a screen with a friend who used the Necromancer (and therefore, thanks to his skills, can evoke spirits and skeletons, making it more crowded), the yield turned out to be really impeccable, allowing us to enjoy the experience without problems Diablo – and if by chance you were wondering, we have chosen to play as a barbarian.
The only flaw related to multiplayer locally, especially in view of the choice of classes adopted by us and our friend, is a bit ‘of confusion that is generated on the screen, often risking losing track of our characters, mainly in the portable mode . Nothing serious, just make eye contact, but it is still an element with which we made a little ‘effort, at least at the beginning. And staying on the topic of local multiplayer, at the beginning we talked about the excellent use of Joy-Con, especially in portable mode. It is in fact possible to assign to each player a controller and, despite being a bit ‘small in his hands, are very precise and are a good compromise to enjoy the experience of Diablo IIIoutside the house. In case you have 4 Joy-Con available (as in our case), you can enjoy the title in docked mode with all four devices, two for each player, making everything much more versatile.
As we said at the beginning, Diablo III: Eternal Collection boasts all the contents published until today in the game, starting with Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer. The Switch package is certainly among the most complete in circulation, allowing – especially for those who have never had the opportunity to get closer to the Diablo series in the past – to find out more closely what this brilliant title has to offer, not so much in terms narratives ( Diablo IIIhe has never been too keen on history), but in terms of experience in the strict sense. In other words, if you own a Nintendo console and are looking for a good travel companion in the long hours of travel that separate you from home to your office, Blizzard’s proposal certainly proves to be a winner.
Diablo III: Eternal Collectionis among the most attractive proposals currently in circulation for Nintendo Switch, especially if you are among those who have not had the opportunity to enjoy this title in the past. Well done, accurate, detailed and fun, this latest edition of the popular RPG Blizzard could be considered one of the best editions, especially because of the fact that for the first time we can bring with us this truly exceptional experience. Not without some small, but insignificant, defect – starting from a lower graphic fidelity compared to the PS4 and Xbox One versions – the “new” proposal by Blizzard for the Nintendo console fascinates, fun and passion, so it would be a shame to let it escape , especially in view of the many hours of fun (alone or in company) that is able to offer.
