Tonight the appointment that will reveal the news that we will soon find in the iPhone, iPad and Mac

Today is an important day in the tech calendar, WWDC 2020 opens , to know how to see the Apple WorldWide Developer Conference keynote , just get to the bottom of this article.

The expectations on this front are very different, depending on the sources that are consulted: the 2020 edition of the WWDC will be created entirely online for the constraints and limits imposed by the pandemic and the related safety measures.

A first time also for Apple, which will have to give up the very engaging effect of a Steve Jobs Theater completely full and full of enthusiasm.

We will see how the version broadcast on the internet will be managed: it is hoped that it will be conducted avoiding the help of fake applause that we have seen during other events and they have been very sad.

Beyond the collateral aspects, looking at the substance, it is difficult to accurately predict what we will find on stage this evening; something has leaked but since we talk about software and not hardware, the secrets have been carefully kept.

When new products are to be presented, contacts with the outside world are many and the control of information that is shared for operational needs is very difficult.

When making a new smartphone, the subjects involved are so numerous that it is practically impossible to maintain absolute secrecy.

In the case of software, however, given that the work is done “at home” it is easier to manage the protection of secrets.

How to see the keynote and what news to expect

We know that probably the new operating system will be called iPhoneOS and this goes in the direction dear to Tim Cook to simplify the names of the products and make them as comprehensible as possible for anyone.

There has been rumors of a new iMac, the ALL-IN-ONE computer which is one of the symbols of Apple’s history, but in the last few hours the idea that there may also be hardware has been denied.

Just in the last few days AirPower had also returned to the limelight, the accessory presented during a Keynote and then never made, an unprecedented situation in the company’s history.

Even for this device in the last hours the well-informed have denied that this hypothesis is correct, so we always remain with a handful of flies in the hand, at least until 19 tonight when the cards are revealed.

Probably, only one news has foundation, that according to which Apple will leave Intel and switch to ARM for the architecture of its processors.

This, most likely, paves the way for the construction “at home” of the next Apple processors, as already happens for iPhone and iPad.

For the rest, in my opinion, the pleasure of discovering what the WWDC 2020 opening keynote, which starts at 19.00, remains for us

FIFA 18: 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Tue, 30 Jun 2020 13:42:39 +0000 The most important football competition is getting ready to officially start on June 14th, in Russia, but the players will not have to wait until the kick-off of the World Cup in order to live their own personal experience. The new free expansion of FIFA 18 for FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 is already available thanks to an update on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, which adds a new game mode with many contents based on the world competition.

The entire presentation in this game mode replicates the official visual style for the event, including menus and the interface, ensuring a very specific flavor to this mode, but EA Sports went even further. All nations were entitled to updated kits, national anthems (or at least some of them) and licensed players. At the moment the roles are not yet official, but we believe that EA will change them before the tournament itself begins.

Another point in favor of the presentation is the public, which has been redesigned in a specific way for each country. Each crowd sports their nation’s shirt and color on the face, but also specific accessories, including flags, banners and even hats: Denmark has hats inspired by the Vikings, while Brazil has straw hats and wigs, for example. All this helps to create an excellent atmosphere during the games, enriched by specific songs for each country and even by special behaviors depending on the opponent. Spanish supporters have whistled for Cristiano Ronaldo’s shots during the Portugal-Spain match, for example. Furthermore, all 12 official stadiums have been meticulously constructed.

Moreover, what enriches the experience even more is the comment. The two commentators share different stories and curiosities about the World Cup and also make specific comments for each nation and even the matches, comparing Cristiano Ronaldo with Eusébio, if for example you are playing with Portugal, during the match Spain and Portugal

Our only disappointment regarding the presentation is the lack of coaches faithfully recreated to the originals, as they simply appear as the standard FIFA 18 coaches. Besides this little disappointment, we must also mention some inconsistencies in the audience, such as fans who they wear the shirt of one country and the facial paint of another.

In 2018 FIFA World Cup it is possible to participate in different game modes. There is the official tournament, which is a replica of the event itself with the 32 official nations in the respective groups, and a custom mode, in which you can create new groups with all the nations in the game – a feature that will be particularly interesting for us poor Italian players. We would have liked the opportunity to play the qualifying round for the World Cup, but unfortunately it is not present in the expansion.

In addition to these modes, you can participate in online games and even a specific version of Ultimate Team Mode. This version of FUT includes the players of the 32 teams that will participate in the World Cup, along with several iconic players in the history of the competition. Here it is necessary to consider a new chemistry system, which instead of operating through clubs and leagues, considers nations and co-federations. You can then participate in different tournaments, in FUT Draft, and try to respond to specific challenges, just like in the standard FUT. A special bonus for this version is that when you buy a FUT World Cup package you will also get an equivalent package for the traditional FUT.

2018 FIFA World Cup Russia is not as good as a product created from scratch, but comes close to it. It’s so nice, in fact, that we believe that EA Sports even has the right to ask for money in return, but being a free expansion, it’s just great. If you are thinking of buying FIFA 18 just to play World Cup, the whole price may be a bit ‘too much, but if you find the game at a reduced price, it’s worth it – and in the meantime you’ll also have one of the best sims soccer never created.

Huawei MediaPad M5 Sat, 27 Jun 2020 15:12:32 +0000 Huawei MediaPad M5 is a new family of Android tablet PC declined in different variants with 8.4-inch and 10.8-inch displays.

Huawei MediaPad M5 is the new family of Android tablets that the Chinese producer presented during the Barcelona Mobile World Congress 2018 event. The new family of Huawei MediaPad M5 is declined in two main strands that differ in the different dimensions of the display. A variant has, in fact, an 8.4-inch screen, while the second of a 10.8-inch display. Both variants have a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels and the ClariVu 5.0-enhanced technology. These are high-end tablet PCs designed for entertainment and productivity.

In particular, the 10.8-inch version offers a really interesting feature precisely in productivity. In fact, Huawei has highlighted how the Desktop View mode is available for this variant of its new tablet PC. By connecting the tablet pc to a special keyboard, the user interface becomes similar to that of a PC allowing users to interact as if they were on a real computer.

Huawei MediaPad M5: design

The Chinese company has worked hard to offer very beautiful products in terms of aesthetics and well-built. The new Huawei MediaPad M5 have a premium look, especially thanks to the unibody aluminum body. The 8.4-inch model presents, of course, better ergonomics thanks to more compact dimensions (212.6mm x 124.8mm x 7.3mm) and a lower weight (316g). The 10.8-inch models are larger (258.7mm x 171.8mm x 7.3mm) but still remain very practical to use since the weight is never excessive (498g).

Huawei MediaPad M5: technical sheet

The new Huawei MediaPad M5 are high-end products and therefore their specifications are of the highest profile. The hardware base is identical for all models. The processor chosen by the Chinese company is the renowned Huawei Kirin 960 octa-core combined with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32/64 / 128GB of storage, expandable through the classic microSD memory up to 256GB. The photographic sector is also interesting. An 8MP fixed-focus camera stands out from the front, while Huawei has implemented a 13MP camera with autofocus.

Of course there are all those sensors and supports such as Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac dual band. LTE is present in some versions. The fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C and a stereo sound system (Harman Kardon) complete the data sheet.

As for the operating system, the new Huawei MediaPad M5 features Android Oreo with EMUI 8.0 interface.

8.4-inch Huawei MediaPad M5

This specific model has an 8.4-inch display with a resolution of 2560X1600 pixels and 359 ppi. Being the smallest model, the battery is smaller than that of the older brothers. Specifically, in this model there is a 5100 mAh battery with quick charge. The tablet pc has two stereo speakers.

10.8-inch Huawei MediaPad M5

It has a 10.8-inch display with a resolution of 2560X1600 pixels and 280 ppi. The battery is 7500 mAh with quick charge. By connecting the tablet pc to a specific keyboard, the 10.8-inch Huawei MediaPad M5 can have the “Desktop View” mode that transforms the device of a more versatile product in terms of productivity, thanks to a “desktop style” interface which allows you to manage the product as a kind of small notebook. The tablet pc also has four stereo speakers.

Huawei MediaPad M5 Pro 10.8-inch Pro

Compared to the Huawei MediaPad M5 model, it is available in 64GB and 128GB internal storage. In addition, it features the new Huawei M-Pen stylus that supports up to 4,096 levels of pressure.

Huawei MediaPad M5: availability and price

Our impressions

We had the chance to test the tablet for a week, in its standard 10.8-inch version (not Pro). The expectations have not been disappointed: it is a device dedicated to multimedia, which makes the audio and video sector its main strengths. Good panel, characterized by a remarkable brightness that makes it suitable for viewing content even in open spaces, as well as the speakers signed by Harman Kardon that are a guarantee.

In particular, when playing music, the tablet is at its best. The sound coming out of the speakers is rich and well balanced, without any distortion even at high volumes. This relieves the user from the obligation to rely on external speakers to enjoy their favorite tracks.

Instead, we did not have the chance to touch the physical keyboard or the M-Pen nib, if not briefly at the Milanese Experience Store of Huawei. Thanks to these two components, the device performs the function of a tool for moving productivity. It seemed particularly interesting to us the technology that automatically digitizes the notes and calculations written by hand (at the time of the launch it supports only the English language).

We are therefore faced with one of the best Android tablets in circulation. We can say that at the launch is unrivaled in the segment in terms of multimedia. Wanting to find a lack of the product is identified in the absence of 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones and earphones: a trend triggered in the smartphone territory and now come to infect that tablet too. However, an adapter to connect to the USB Type-C slot is included in the packaging.

Acer Revo Cube RN76 Thu, 25 Jun 2020 12:58:50 +0000 Acer Revo Cube RN76 is a mini PC with Intel processors, up to 16 GB of RAM, SSD up to 256 GB, hard drives up to 2 TB and pad for wireless charging.

To access the Internet and view multimedia content there are many solutions today, from consoles to the so-called Android Box. One of the best alternatives in terms of flexibility of use and size is represented by the mini PCs designed by Acer since 2016. The Taiwanese manufacturer has now announced a new version of the Revo Cube that offers sufficient performance for any task, including decoding video in high resolution, giving life to a transversal solution able to perform more tasks, more functions and able to adapt to multiple contexts. The words of Marco Cappella, Country Manager of Acer Italy, clearly describe the target of the device:

Acer Revo Cube RN76: all the details

The very accurate aesthetic is definitely the strength of the Revo Cube RN76. Acer has in fact created a device that can be placed in every room of the house, even if its ideal place is next to the TV in the living room. The mini PC is a small parallelepiped that measures only 116.6x112x55.6 mm, so the overall dimensions are quite small. Those who choose to use the device in the office can attach it behind the monitor using the supplied VESA mounting kit, thus freeing up space on the desk.

Clean lines, essential traits, almost in search of a sort of anonymity: the absence of particular distinctive traits is an evidently sought after feature, designed to allow the device to fit into any context, even as a piece of furniture for each type of style and context.

On the front there are the power button, the 3.5mm audio jack and two USB 3.1 ports (Type-A and Type-C). On the back there are all the other connections, including the video outputs needed to interface with the screen. On three sides some slots have been made for the hot air outlet pushed by the cooling fan, thus seeking maximum performance even in the minimum space required by the project. The upper side is flat and allows you to place your smartphone. Observing better you notice the Qi logo that indicates the presence of a pad for wireless charging of compatible devices, which therefore makes it a real reference point for any type of interaction that its digital dimension.

Data sheet

The Revo Cube RN76 is offered in different configurations. The user can choose models with Intel Celeron 3865U dual core processors at 1.8 GHz or Core i3-7130U at 2.70 GHz, both based on the Kaby Lake architecture. The Celeron integrates an Intel HD Graphics 610 GPU, while the Core i3 integrates an Intel HD Graphics 620 GPU. The only difference is the maximum frequency (900 and 1,000 MHz, respectively), since both support 4K output at 60 Hz, DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.4 and Intel Quick Sync video conversion technology. The graphic power is sufficient for the decoding of the H.265 and VP9 formats.

The standard equipment of DDR4 RAM is 4 GB, but it is possible to reach 16 GB. For storage you can rely on the integrated solid-state drive (a 64 GB SSD in mSATA format) or add a 2.5-inch SSD up to 256 GB. To save money you can opt for a traditional hard disk up to 2 TB, even if the performance will be much lower. Connectivity is guaranteed by the 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and Gigabit Ethernet chips. There are also four USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports (three Type-A and one Type-C) and HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs.

Some models are offered “full optional” with white mouse and USB keyboard. Acer allows you to choose Windows 10 Home as the operating system or Endless OS based on Debian.

The Revo Cube RN76 is already available in Italy at a base price of 279.00 euros. It can be purchased online and in the physical stores of the major consumer electronics chains. The model with Intel Celeron 3865U processor, 64 GB SSD and 4 GB of RAM is also on sale on Amazon.

RTX Super and Core i7 Gen 10: Razer strengthens the configuration of his “Blade 15” laptop Tue, 23 Jun 2020 20:37:39 +0000

If you are a fan of Razer Blade products, addicted to their aluminum chassis and their soberly classy design, rest assured: the 2020 edition of the brand’s laptops should not shake you up. In fact, it’s mostly the 15-inch Blade that is getting a facelift at the moment, with changes that will be essentially internal. This model will thus be structured around new components: the tenth generation Intel processors on one side (Comet Lake-H, in 14 nm), and RTX SUPER cards on the other.

Recall that the Blade 15 is marketed under two names, Base and Advanced, each with its specific configuration. The basic models thus inherit the new i7-10750H processors (6 cores / 12 threads), 16 GB of DDR4 RAM at 2933 MHz, and storage capacity ranging from 256 to 512 GB on M.2 PCIe SSD (knowing that in all cases, an M.2 slot will remain free for the addition of an additional unit). The Advanced models, meanwhile, will benefit from a slightly more premium processing, with Core Intel i7-10875H, and extended storage capacities (between 512 GB and 1 TB, still on M.2 PCIe SSD).

What about the graphic part? The basic models do not undergo modifications at this level, and can carry GTX 1660 Ti, RTX 2060 or RTX 2070 circuits (all in MaxQ version). You will have to go to the Advanced models to see the first RTX Super appear, in the 2070 MaxQ and 2080 MaxQ versions. It should be noted that the display is also gaining ground, since an IPS 300 Hz panel will be offered (against 240 Hz previously). The choice of Oled 4K or Full HD 144 Hz remains possible, however.

How has Razer managed the integration of its new components? This is the whole question, since the dimensions of the chassis have not varied by an iota, while the new on-board components are boosted versions of what already existed. Razer had found a rather suitable balance on the 2019 edition of the Blade 15, which an increase in heating and noise pollution could cause a negative impact. In any case, the rates, announced in dollars for now, will leave little room for indulgence: $ 1,599 in entry price for the basic model, when it will be necessary to pay at least $ 2,599 for a model Advanced.

Razer unveils Pikachu earbuds Mon, 15 Jun 2020 20:24:21 +0000 “Catch them all !” For its new wireless headphones, Razer will take a look at the Pokémon video games and be inspired by the most famous of them. The American computer company is launching its earbuds in tribute to Pikachu and the least we can say is that they will appeal to fans of Japanese games. The cotton swab design is reminiscent of that of Apple AirPods, except for one detail, they are bright yellow and the silhouette of Pikachu has slipped into the base of the headphones. If you are not yet convinced, Razer strikes hard and fulfills the dream of all apprentice trainers. To recharge their pair of headphones, users can use a case largely inspired by the universe. It is a Pokéball which will allow you to benefit from all the autonomy of the earbuds. Transportable, it allows you to recharge them up to 5 times and that’s more than necessary when you know that the battery lasts only three hours. You will therefore have to take your Pokéball with you.

For the rest of the technical characteristics, we are still far from the market leaders since its headphones do not offer active noise reduction. According to Gizmodo , they still display a good quality of bass. Intended for now in China, the product will be sold at 120 dollars. The launch of these headphones will be on April 16 and nothing indicates that they will arrive in our green lands. Razer does not stop there and adds other gadgets to its Pikachu range . To display his love for the franchise, it will be possible to get a keyboard and a yellow mouse like the coat of the little Pokémon. Not sure, however, that this flashy design is suitable for all fans of the franchise. It remains to be seen whether the brand will meet the expected success when launching its range.

Lab – Is the new screen of the Apple iPad 2019 (Gen 7) as good as the old one? Wed, 10 Jun 2020 20:10:52 +0000

The new iteration of Apple’s iPad has taken growth hormones to look like the newest iPad Air. However, as we relate at the time of its announcement, this model suitable for education makes some concessions on its technical sheet. In addition to the processor which is starting to date, it is at the level of the screen, but also of the Touch ID, that we observe a return back. It is on this first point that we will focus. So, does the supposed loss of certification of the sRGB color space tarnish the quality of the screen of this new iPad 2019?

Almost the same slab

It is “funny” on the part of Apple to go back on certain points, knowing that this new iPad “entry level” is a little more expensive than that released in 2018. The new screen has certainly gained in size, going from 9.7 inches to 10.2 inches, it would have mostly lost its support of the sRGB color space that was present on the iPad 6.

After this loss, we thought that the display would therefore be of lower quality than in the past. And it is clear that this is not entirely the case. Better, Apple succeeds in proposing on its display a quality which sticks to what we had previously noted on the old model.

We have subjected the two tablets to a specific test allowing us to note the color range on which the screens of the devices “stick”. We found that they were both very close, with a difference of just 1%. This means that the iPad 6 and the iPad 7 have a very good screen considering their price. However, the iPad Air using the P3 color space, we would have liked Apple to also benefit from its new entry-level tablet, failing to stagnate in sRGB.

Delta E is a bit higher with a value raised to 2 instead of 1.5, but overall, no color really picks up at an extreme value. The red and green tones blithely exceed a delta E of 3, but this was already the case on the old iPad. Nothing too alarming, however, since only an expert eye could notice it. And as this iPad will mainly be used by schoolchildren, we doubt that they can judge the color quality of a tile.

In terms of color temperature, we reach 6,838 K on this new version of the iPad. On the previous one, the value recorded was 6,824 K. Again, no major upheaval to note, just like on the contrast ratio which increases without this being significant.

Finally, this new screen is not so different from the previous model. Apple has managed to offer an equally qualitative panel on its seventh generation and this is an excellent thing. It remains to be seen whether the results on Touch ID technology will be as convincing. But that will be for another laboratory paper…
