The super defined camera is just the tip of the iceberg, in a super powerful smartphone
A month of testing, it is the period that I used to develop the Xiaomi MI 10 Pro review, a beautiful, complete and powerful smartphone, which has its main 108 mpx camera as a distinctive element.
There is only one detail of this product that does not drive me crazy, the user interface, MIUI 11, which however will be profoundly renewed soon with the launch of the upcoming MIUI 12.
The graphics of Xiaomi devices in my opinion does not do justice to the hardware quality of the products, lowering their perception of value.
In reality there are many qualities in this object, starting from the build quality, passing through the display, up to the camera and the battery.
There is little to say about the hardware equipment, because all the flagship products on the market have the same characteristics, excellent for anything else.
Let’s not forget the support for 5G, which today is a fundamental requirement to be really at the top.
It must certainly be added, it is not secondary, that with this Xiaomi phone has reached the psychological threshold of 1,000 euros for the first time.
It is always the business card of a smartphone, the first “eye contact point”. Xiaomi has chosen a 6.67-inch fullHD + AMOLED panel, with curved sides.
It has a maximum competition brightness, reaches 1,200 nits, a refresh rate at 90 hz and a championship frequency for touch at 180 hz.
It supports HDR 10+ and the wide color range, P3, adopts the “true color” standard for the accuracy of color reproduction.
The ratio is 19.5: 9 with a thrilling surface screen ratio: 92.4%, if all this is not enough, you must add the TUV certification for protection from blue light.
When the phone is off you can use the always on display function, which however is very basic. I show any notifications but there is no interaction like in the Motorola version.
A display of this size is perfect for filling with cracks in case of accidental fall: no worries, Xiaomi covers the replacement of the display in case of breakage (for one time only).
If you break it a second, you must first go to Lourdes and then pay for the repair.
Hardware and Software
There isn’t much to say in the sense that this phone falls into the top category and therefore offers all the best the market has to offer.
Snapdragon 865, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of internal memory, with UFS 3.0 standard.
The physical keys are those for powering on and the volume rocker for controlling the volume. There is no audio jack, but there are two stereo speakers on the top and bottom of the phone.
Xiaomi has opted for a “real” speaker also on the top of the phone, while other manufacturers hide it in the phone’s ear capsule.
The sound is good, not up to the best on the market (Motorola Edge) but still full of nuances and with a fair amount of bass.
There is also a heat dissipation system, with a “liquid chamber” that can manage the temperature even when the smartphone is subjected to intense stress, for example with video games.
For graphics management, an Adreno 650 GPU was chosen.
In all the benchmarks, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro equals the best on the market, but I’m not surprised because the hardware under the hood is the same for everyone.
The fingerprint sensor is under the display, of course there is also the unlock with the face.
There is not much to say about the software: Xiaomi personalizes its interface with a slightly “comic” style, but increasingly closer to the stock version of Android.
With MIUI 12 coming soon there will certainly be a leap forward, which I can’t wait to try on the field.
Xiaomi was the first manufacturer to launch a smartphone with a 108 mpx sensor, a number that I am always impressed with when it is big.
To shoot with all the megapixels available, you need to choose the appropriate section in the camera menu. A photo with the 108 mpx sensor also weighs 15 mb, I put an example below from which I extracted a crop.
But that’s not the only sensor with which Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is equipped, which has it for all tastes! There is a 12mpx, 50mm portrait sensor with F / 2.0 aperture, capable of handling a 2X zoom.
There is also a 3.7x optical zoom to which is added a 50x hybrid zoom. In this case, 8 mpx, F / 2.0, optical stabilization.
If that is not enough, there is a wide angle lens with 117 degrees aperture, 20 mpx, 13 mm, F / 2.2.
All this camera popo guarantees you to shoot videos in 8K, at 30 frames per second, but also a full HD slow motion at 960 frames per second.
In front, however, 20 Mpx, with the selfie cam housed in the display hole, with F / 2.0 aperture and the ability to shoot videos in fullHD.
There is not much to add because this is one of the cameras on the market according to DxOMark, could I ever deny them?
A super phone can only have a super battery with a super charger. It also happens for Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, which has a capacity of 4,500 mAh, with a 50W charge.
There is also 30W wireless charging and Power Delivery 3.0 support; inside the package there is a 65W charger.
With this charger you can charge from 0 to 100% in 45 minutes, while in just 15 minutes you can reach 40%.
In my test I never managed to drop below 20%, on normal days I even arrived in the evening with 40% of residual charge.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro review, conclusions
When using such a device there are not many doubts in making a judgment. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro review is necessarily a sort of celebration of this very powerful device.
Maybe you could partially criticize the design, a little anonymous and aligned with what the competition does, but
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
- Software speed
In short words
One of the most powerful devices available on the market today. The price is higher than what Xiaomi had accustomed us to. Camera among the best, very large battery and top hardware.
